Amber is nature’s time capsule.
This fossilised tree resin contains remnants of life on earth from millions of years ago.
We make unique jewellery pieces using fine amber.
To ensure their individuality, all the jewellery designs are made exclusively with 100% natural amber (Dominican Blue Amber, Sumatran Indonesian Amber, Baltic Amber) .
All our amber jewellery starts from rough amber pieces, being precisely cut in our amber laboratory to guarantee our customers the quality of natural amber.
Amber is a captivating gemstone that has been used in jewellery for centuries.
Amber’s organic origin, natural beauty, versatility, historical significance, and metaphysical properties make it a captivating gemstone for jewellery.
Whether it’s a simple pendant or an intricately designed statement piece, amber adds a touch of sophistication and fascination to any jewellery collection.
Amber requires artisanal skill to shape and polish it into jewellery.
Jewellers use lapidary techniques to shape amber, carefully preserving its natural inclusions and capturing its inherent beauty.
Amber can be carved, faceted or simply polished into various shapes to showcase its unique characteristics.
Amber is appreciated for its warm, golden hues ranging from pale yellow to rich orange-brown.
It often contains fascinating inclusions such as plant matter, insects, or air bubbles, adding to its allure. These inclusions are like snapshots frozen in time and make each piece of amber truly unique.
Dominican Amber
Dominican amber is amber from the Dominican Republic. Resin from the extinct tree Hymenaea protera is the source of Dominican amber and the most frequently found amber in the tropics.
Dominican amber differentiates itself from Baltic amber by being nearly always transparent, and it has a higher number of fossil inclusions. This has enabled the detailed reconstruction of the ecosystem of a long-vanished tropical forest.
Dominican amber can be found in many colours, besides the obvious “amber”. Yellow and honey coloured hues are most common. There is also red and green in smaller quantities, and the rare precious blue amber (fluorescent).
Blue amber is found in the Palo Quemado mine south of La Cumbre, in the wild northern mountainous regions of the Dominican Republic.

Indonesian “Sumatran“ Amber
This gem-like blue amber comes from the eastern flank of the Bukit Barisan mountain range. Specifically, in the northwest corner of the South Sumatra Basin, a vast area of coal deposits about 150 meters above sea level.
The amber has been studied by the GIA (USA), and the GIT lab in Thailand (articles: THE COLOR PHENOMENA OF BLUE AMBER – Gems & Gemology, Summer 2014, Vol. 50, No. 2 and THE CHARACTERISTICS OF BLUE AMBER FROM INDONESIA).
According to the GIA study, the blue colour exhibited by the Sumatran Amber is the result of surface fluorescence stimulated by UV light. The UV is completely absorbed and does not penetrate or pass through the amber as it does in crystalline stones like colour changing garnets, alexandrites and other gems. This phenomenon in which colour changes with the wave length of light is called the Usambara Effect. The Usambara Effect exhibited by Sumatran amber is purely superficial.
Geologically, these deposits occur in the Sinamar Formation which is an early Oligocene age rock formation (approximately 23 million years old). These rocks have locally been intruded by younger volcanic dykes and sills. Subsequently the coal and amber were subjected to volcanic heat while buried deep in the sedimentary basin. This happens at just one of the two dozen active modern-day volcanoes on the island of Sumatra.
Baltic Amber
Baltic amber derives specifically from trees in the Baltic region.
All amber contains succinic acid. Succinic acid works to soothe and reduce inflammation, which it is believed can reduce many types of pain and discomfort caused by illness, teething, and even injuries.
Baltic amber contains around 3-8% succinic acid and has been studied for many years in contemporary medicine. The highest concentration of succinic acid is found in the amber cortex – the outermost layer of the stone. As a result, Baltic amber has been used for centuries for its beauty and for its amazing healing properties.
At present Baltic amber is becoming increasingly rare and is to be found only a few select areas near the Baltic Sea in Northern Europe.
Amber in Medicine
The reputed healing properties of this ancient gemstone and its therapeutic effects are based it is believed on the magnetic properties of amber, in which the fossilised resin gets “charged” and subsequently “permeates” energy, thus acting as a magnet; amplifying, or diminishing radiation of the body and its internal magnetic field. Using this methodology, bio-stimulation of amber in the body could thus induce the production of hormones and influence the supply of blood to unhealthy organs so promoting faster healing. Regular amber applications have been reported to reduce and soothe chronic pain of the back, as well as menstrual, muscular and abdominal pains, and also promoting a calming effect on headaches and toothaches. Research has shown that direct application is the most effective method of such “amber therapy”.
The human body has approximately 360 biologically active points, which are responsible for specific internal organ systems. Amber pieces placed on these biologically active points is believed to radiate energy and stimulate these special places, with some proponents reporting that following amber treatment they were able to reduce their typical quantity of medication by half*.
One more therapeutic effect: it is considered that amber facilitates childbirth, and protects a mother and newborn baby from disease and illness. In many countries, pregnant women wear amber beads, also threading a piece of amber into their child’s clothes. Massage balls, used to make the eruption of teeth less painful, can also be made of amber.
Please note:
We have disposable amber which is required for additional orders and design offcuts, as well as extra fine-cut amber for customised orders and any other use a client may desire.
